For as long as I can remember, Edgar Degas has been one of my favorite artists. Not only am I a fan of Impressionism, but Degas also was inspired by two of my childhood loves: horses and the ballet. Among his many beautiful works, one of the pieces I find myself returning to is The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer. (If you are not familiar, click here. It’s lovely.) It resonated with me when I was a little dancer once upon a time; even though that time has passed, I always make sure to visit the sculpture whenever I’m at the Met. When I came across this vintage dress, I knew I had to have it. The watercolor hues and ballerina-style are reminiscent of the Little Dancer. When paired with these pointe shoe-esque heels, I feel like a grown-up version of my Little Dancer days.
