Fashion has a few cardinal rules, which are so engrained in our psyche, they almost go without saying. Don’t mix prints and patterns. Clutches are only for evening-time. Never wear black to weddings. And never, ever wear white after Labor Day. Well, if my blog has been any indicator thus far, I not only eschew these archaisms, I pretty much run in the opposite direction. Yes to formalwear at the beach! Yes to heels with overalls! Yes to saddle shoes post prep-school! And definitely yes to white well after Labor Day. While there are some arenas where it pays to play it safe, I am a firm believer that fashion is not one of those. I dress for my mood, not for some gratuitous rules meant to keep us all sartorially in-line. So, when this white, pleated number called my name the other day, you better believe I putted it on. Dress boldly, my friends. What’s the worst that can happen? You don’t blend in? Welcome to the ranks of the fashion rebel elite.
