Confession- a dear friend gave me this cut up rock tee, but I couldn’t bear to tell him that the singing skeletons were scary. Just kidding. I totally told him the shirt was creepy. However, creepy or not, there in my closet it hung. I couldn’t quite figure out the right occasion to wear such a shirt. I certainly didn’t plan to attend a metal concert anytime soon. And frankly, it seemed a little too spooky to wear on it’s own. But, then it occurred to me. What if I were to cross this not-so-me Iron Maiden tee with some much-more-me items? Red jeans? Check. Metallic sweater? Don’t mind if I do. Bold necklace and sassy booties? But of course. Thus giving my usual look a little dose rock & roll that it could definitely use every now and again. I may not be very cool on the inside. But this getup might make people think twice.
P.S. I took this shirt out for a spin over the weekend. It received a lot of (positive, I think) attention at Pilates and the farmer’s market. Like a lot, a lot. Maybe there’s something to be said for bringing out your inner groupie.
