Audrey Hepburn. Grace Kelly. Brigitte Bardot. When most women list their style icons, they run through a catalog of movie stars, past or present, whose glamour they idealize and long to emulate. Not me. My beauty ideal is somewhere between Bambi and a Madame Alexander doll: doe-eyed lashes, pouty lips and curls for days. So, this outfit was a no-brainer. The peter pan collar and tailored lines are straight off a dollish figurine. And the bow headband is slightly over-the-top to suit my slightly over-the-top style. Iconic? Sure. But probably more suitable for the shelves of FAO Schwartz than the pages of In Style.
This post is dedicated to my Uncle Al, who traveled the world and cherished the beautiful.
