It is true, as the old adage goes, that sometimes less is more. But, sometimes more is more. If you know me at all, you are well aware that I could be referring to any facet of my life here. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- I am a creature of excess. But, today I am speaking about money. Or, more specifically, the idea that sometimes spending more is, in fact, better. I realize that I have probably alienated a good portion of my audience at the point. Hear me out, though. No one likes a good deal like me. (Except for my mother. That woman LOVES a deal. And airline points and free hotel buffets. In that order.) But, it really is true that sometimes, those pricier items will better stand the test of time than their less expensive counterparts. I reference today’s outfit as evidence. I have had the tank and skirt for a few years now. Both Alexander Wang, they are just as on point as the day I scooped them up. And the shoes, Prada, were purchased on my first trip to Italy, over a decade ago. While it is absolutely true that you can find inexpensive pieces that you will keep for ages, there is something to be said for designer classics, as well. The timeless designs and expert craftsmanship make them well worth the extra dollar or ten.
