It may surprise you to know that I own very little winter gear. Or maybe you’re not surprised. I mean, I do live in LA. But, truthfully, my puppy, Pip, is far better equipped for the cold than his mistress. I don’t own rain gear; Pip has a raincoat. We both own the same number of wool, Ralph Lauren coats: one. Clearly, I have priorities. And they do not include staying warm and dry. What I do lack in practicality, I make up for in sartorialism. For example, this metallic trench by Kelly Wearstler. The detailing on this coat is stunning. From the metallic brushstrokes, which almost appear hand-painted, to the leather belt and jewelry-esque buttons, no detail was left unattended. Would I wear it in the rain? No. But, who cares? It rains like four days a year here. I’m better off playing hooky and keeping my non-functional wardrobe dry.
