I’ve always had a hard time keeping my clothes on. My mother loves to recount the time she played hostess to a group of ladies and their sons. As she walked into the kitchen to fetch the hors d’oeuvres, she noticed a pair of socks and Mary Janes, followed by a cardigan, a sundress and, finally, a pair of panties. Much to her horror, at the end of the trail of discarded clothing was her daughter, playing around for all the boys to see. And much to every other mothers’ horror, their sons were quick to follow suit. Now granted, I was two. So I’ve learned my lesson, more or less. As an adult, I’ve come to understand that it doesn’t pay to take your clothes off in public. (Respect-wise. Money-wise, it totally pays.) But, I still have a tendency towards pieces that are, more or less, falling off. I love oversized sweaters, droopy tanks and swoopy backs. Clothes that might slip away were it not for a wisely placed piece of fabric or stitch of thread. So it’s no wonder that I made a beeline for this off-the-shoulder frock. Definitely one of the hottest silhouettes this summer, the clavicle-bearing style is suggestive, while still remaining coy. Flirtatious without going full blown trollop. It’s my way of honoring the naughty little thing I once was whilst remaining out of jail.
