I can’t get enough denim as of late. Maybe it’s because I have less opportunity to wear it now that I’m in corporate America. Maybe it’s just that few outfits compare to the classic pairing of blue jeans and a white t-shirt. Either way, the reason behind my denim-fueled dreams is inconsequential. As I can’t seem to get them off my mind, all this week, we (meaning Pip and I) are paying tribute to one of my best tools for surviving the streets of LA- denim. One of the things I love about denim is that it comes in all shapes and sizes. Literally. My collection runs the gamut from booty-short shorts to sky-high wedges to these billowing trousers, all made in my favorite fabric. I’m also keen on the fact that you can dress it up or down, depending upon the shape and style. It truly is an American classic. Being who I am, in addition to the standard skinnies and straights, I tend towards the not-so-traditional silhouettes as well. While at first heartbroken to learn that my beloved skinny jeans were passé in 2015 (I mean, I own about a gajillion pairs and they’re just sooo comfy), I was quick to embrace the wide leg and flare trends. Or, at least, I used this as a valid reason to treat myself to a few new pairs. Believe it or not, I’m having a lot of fun with these new cuts, too. They’re flattering in a whole different way. And I will use any excuse to break out my crop tops (or, in today’s case, create my own). Though the styles may change from season to season, my bonafide denim obsession will never waiver. I just use the fluctuating trends as a justification for my ever-expanding closet.
