The Bomb

alpha industries women's bomberI don’t know who’s to blame for starting the whole thing.  Maybe Tom Cruise…not Scientology Cruise, obviously.  I’m talking Maverick Cruise.  Flight suit, bomber jacket and aviators Cruise.  No matter the origin, flight apparel has always been inherently cool.  And bomber jackets are having a major moment as of late.  You can’t open up a magazine (for those of us who still read print) or scroll through your Insta feed without seeing some iteration of the bomber.  Though most are a far cry from the original, the pilot’s influence is still visibly apparent.  Never a minimalist, I opted for two versions- a less traditional silk one (worn here) and today’s classic.  To keep the latest outerwear looking less costume and more couture, eschew the jumpsuit in favor of something unexpected, like a lace frock.  Don’t let that stop you from throwing on a pair of aviators, though.  Because, if Top Gun has taught us anything, it’s that flying is always in style.
